Hora divides daylight and night into 12 planetary hours each, used to time short tasks by planetary rulership rather than a fixed clock hour.
Why some tithis and karanas are inauspicious +
Certain tithis (like Chaturthi and Navami) and the Karana called Vishti — commonly known as Bhadra — are traditionally avoided for starting new ventures, travel or ceremonies. A Yoga marked “inauspicious” such as Vyatipata or Vaidhriti works the same way: it doesn’t forbid action, it flags a window worth planning around.

What is Panchang?

Panchang (literally “five limbs”) is the Hindu almanac built from five daily measures of time: Tithi, Vaar, Nakshatra, Yoga and Karana. Priests and astrologers have used it for centuries to fix auspicious moments — a wedding hour, a house-warming, a journey’s start — and to name the inauspicious windows worth working around, like today’s Rahu Kaal.
